Dear ChickTech Community:

It is with immense gratitude and heavy hearts that we share the news that after 12 incredible years, ChickTech has closed its doors. This decision has not come easily, but we reflect on the journey with pride, knowing that together we have built something truly special—something that has positively impacted the lives of countless individuals, especially those underrepresented in STEM.

ChickTech was founded to address a critical need for inclusive, supportive spaces for women, girls, and gender diverse people of all ages to explore and thrive in technology. Over the past decade, we have witnessed the profound impact of this mission come to life. Our community has launched careers, built confidence, fostered mentorships, and changed lives. We’ve created pathways for thousands to see themselves in STEM and beyond.

As we announce this difficult decision, we are mindful of the broader context we find ourselves in. Recently, we’ve seen other organizations working toward gender equity in STEM close their doors as well. It’s a sign of the challenges we still face, but we remain hopeful. We take comfort in knowing that the work will continue in many forms, and that this movement for inclusivity and diversity in technology is bigger than any one organization.

Our accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication and talent of our staff and volunteers. From organizing local workshops and events to serving as mentors and role models, you have been the heartbeat of ChickTech. Your passion, energy, and love have empowered countless individuals to see themselves reflected in a field that often feels inaccessible. Thank you for believing in this mission and for your unwavering commitment to making a difference.

This work also requires the commitment of donors, sponsors, and corporate partners to be catalysts for lasting change. Thank you for standing with us and making this journey possible. Together we invested in the future of STEM, serving over 35,000 people through our impactful, inclusive programs.

And finally, to our incredible participants—thank you for trusting us, for showing up, and for sharing your talents, dreams, and courage. The relationships we’ve built over the years are what makes ChickTech special. We’ve watched you grow, overcome challenges, and find your place in STEM—and it’s been an honor to be part of that journey.

While we are proud of the lasting legacy we leave behind, the mission is not complete. The Washington Post recently reported that the number of women in high-tech has only increased by .6% over the past two decades.

We encourage you to keep the spirit of our shared mission alive. Proactively support other organizations doing this critical work, whether by becoming a volunteer, a donor, or simply by showing up for one another.
